Something that has at least an element of performance and an element of interactivity. This might include forms of immersive theatre, larp, hybrid shows, digital games designed to be played by in-person groups, streamed events and so on.
We might refine this definition in the future, but right now we want to make sure people aren’t holding off on submitting a pitch because they’re worried that what they’re doing isn’t quite interactive or performative enough.
A group of our volunteers check that each pitch submitted is eligible, and then pitches are selected at random from all the eligible submissions.
This may change for future Soups as we learn more about running these events, but right now we don’t have specific principles in terms of what ideas do and don’t deserve a chance to pitch.
Everyone who comes will receive a printed voting slip. You get to mark a first choice vote (worth 2 points) and a second choice vote (worth 1 point). Voting slips are then put into a box, and a pair of volunteers count up the points. The pitch with the most points is the winner.
People can share their decision with others but no one has to reveal who they voted for. Everyone is also welcome to observe the volunteers counting the votes.
There are 40-50 tickets available for each Soup, as well as there being a few volunteers present to help with running things.
The venue is accessible for wheelchair users, with a step-free entry and accessible toilet near the bar area (where the soup will be held).
We are happy to provide free tickets for interpreters or carers.
If you would like to attend but would need to know more about possible access provisions, do get in touch at info@rollflipdraw.co.uk
We always serve vegan soup as default, and avoid highly common allergens such as peanuts. Check the Next Soup page for full details of what we’ll be serving, including ingredients. We serve bread with the soup, and provide gluten-free bread for those who need it. You can tell us you need gluten-free bread when you book your ticket.
We cannot offer specifically made or adjusted alternatives because of the volunteer-run nature of the event and limited capacity during events to prep and make soup.
No. The Theatre Deli bar will be running during the evening but drinks must be bought separately.
